The mission of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life for those living and working in the city of Charlottesville, and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson and Orange.
We believe that strong community relationships, collaborative problem-solving and broad engagement are powerful forces for change. Applied over the long term, this approach will allow us to continue to enrich communities, strengthen systems and shape local futures for generations to come.
The Community Foundation learns about and responds to opportunities to improve the quality of life across the region. Together with partners, we fund a broad array of organizations and projects.
Our three grant tracks — Enriching Communities, Strengthening Systems and Shaping Futures — enable the Foundation to partner with organizations to have an impact in various ways. Our ability to focus on support for services and activities as well as system-level challenges allows us to provide relevant resources to partners who are addressing both the symptoms and root causes of community challenges.
